Andy C - Nightlife 5 - Drum & Bass

Andy C is regarded, by most, as the best dnb DJ in the world. I can't argue that. Nightlife 5 is another deep dive into the best dnb of 2010. The mood of this mix changes from hardcore grunge to light and subtle. I have three 12" woofers on my home stereo, one is a dedicated sub-woofer and the other two are in full range cabinets. The bass in this mix is relentless, giving absolutely no breaks for my amps to cool down. I love this CD! I just wish I could play it louder without anyone complaining :/

10 Ft. Ganja Plant

I can dig some Reggae but in all honesty, its the Dub that stems from it that I love. 10 Ft. Ganja Plant gives me a good balance between the two. Half of the tracks on any particular CD are good ol' Reggae tunes, while the other half are Dub jams anybody can chill to.

Genre: Reggae, Dub, Soul
General Mood: Chill, Buzzed

If you're looking to space out for a little while and just experience some different musical culture, this is the group for you. I can't say I like all of their songs, but most are worthy of your time.

Be sure to check out these albums:

I really dig these albums. I listen to them on my iPhone and drum along using the "Drums!" application. Hey! I'm pretty good!

Deadmau5

Deadmau5 is one of the top house artists in the world. Joel Thomas Zimmerman is his real name and he has quite a lot of albums, singles, DJ sets, and otherwise. Look at this list!

Genre: Progressive House, House, Electro, Dubstep, Tech House
General Mood: Energetic

As with any House music, it can get repetative. I find a lot of Deadmau5's music is worthy of deep concentration, but sometimes I trail off to something else I'm doing and don't pay attention till the next song.

I don't have a specific recommendation, hell I only own a couple of his albums. But have a look at the discogs list and find some of them. I really enjoy the "4x4=12" album from 2010, or the 2009 album "For Lack Of A Better Name".

Amon Tobin

Amon Tobin is a name rarely mentioned among friends. That's a shame, as this man is clearly a genius. You do need to be in the right state of mind for most of his music as its pretty... radical?

Genre: Experimental Electronic, Atmospheric, Ambient, Jazz on Drugs?
General Mood: Psychotic, Uplifting, Energizing

You do not want to try and listen to this music in the background while doing something else. This music requires all of your attention or you'll miss just how much depth has been created. It is unbelievable how many sounds he uses in a given track.

Here are some albums well worth checking out:

WARNING: Most other music will seem dull after listening to too many Amon Tobin tracks in a row.

Kruder & Dorfmeister

K&D (aka Kruder & Dorfmeister) are in my top 10 most favorite artists of all time. These guys just don't make shitty music, I don't think its possible. They don't have a lot of official releases, but here is a list of albums to check out.

Genre: Chill, Ambient, Acid Jazz, Dub
General Mood: Relaxed, Buzzed

You can buy these albums, and other various albums, on your standard album peddlers (amazon or the likes).
